EXHIBITIONS / THREE WORKS

06.05.2010 to 29.05.2010

Melbourne based, collaborative artists Janet Burchill & Jennifer McCamley
will show three works at Peloton, 6-29 May.
“In late 2009, we spent 3 months living and working in Bangalore, India. One of
the works we made and exhibited there was a camouflaged sari clad mannequin
piece, 'Imitation of Life'. We felt that the architecture of Peloton's P25 space,
with its large display window, would be a perfect space to re-exhibit this work.
While we had worked within the strict formal codes governing the making of
the sari, the resulting sari is as much banner and painting as costume. And
the final work is a sculpture.
Camouflage has been a long held interest
of Janet's. We have chosen a camouflage and neon work to exhibit with the mannequin sculpture. The third work which we're currently making is an
assemblage work, a type of head-dress, which will hang from the ceiling."
