EXHIBITIONS / PAINTING SHOW

01.09.2011 to 24.09.2011

Peloton presents the work of three young artists, who all working within the language of abstraction make use of the canvas as an arena for the recording of actions and processes.  Highly expressive gestures  that often use spray-paint to convey their immediacy are reworked with layers challenging the authenticity of the gesture, further to this the distance that is maintained between the action and the mark when working with a spray can means that the record on the canvas is somewhat dislocated in the same way that a gesture covered by another gesture is mediated.  Masking tape and time are the boundaries within which to work as compositions emerge and disappear with the canvas as the primary site for the image to evolve from.  The show features the work of Will Cooke, Luke Strevens and Teunis van Zanten.
