MAN establishes a category of human subjects defined by gender, their personal or professional connection to the artist and by their existence in this exhibition as paintings. While MAN deals on a personal level with the artists' own interest in men (individually and collectively), MAN also examines the relationship between author, subject and painting. The exhibition investigates the respective push for primacy of each of these elements.
