EXHIBITIONS / EGO'POP

29.09.2011 to 22.10.2011

ego'pop

These works were produced on the backs of previously painted canvas.
Paint bleeding through the fabric acted as a catalyst by producing the marks to transform these damaged or discarded canvases.
In one gesture the 'other side' simultaneously becomes an inversion , a method of re-cycling and the basis of another framework.
I enter the process with no preconceived ideas or restraints. Working with the initial random stains is liberating ,it allows me to follow an unexpected, unanticipated path which depends on chance and intuition.
The strategy enabled the development of my work through gesture, stain and slippage as I produced my private performance with washing and scrubbing and developing new marks from old.
