ARTISTS / PHILLIPA VEITCH
Profile
In Cosmodrome, Philipa Veitch reflects on the fragility of human endeavour, continuing her exploration of human development and the intangible processes through which culture is both internalised and expressed through social conventions and experiences associated with creativity, play and material production.
Taking the form of a hybridised playground / memorial / construction zone, Veitch uses a combination of handcrafted, 'fine art', and raw construction materials to investigate our ambivalent attitude towards concepts of youth, death and transcendence. Cosmodrome speculates on the future of creativity and our incomplete attempts to extend the parameters of human existence.
