Profile

Miranda Parkes is based in Christchurch, New Zealand and has been practicing fulltime as an artist since graduating with a MFA (Distinction) in painting from the University of Canterbury in 2005. She has exhibited widely throughout New Zealand with recent solo shows including Smasher at Antoinette Godkin Gallery in Auckland (2011) and Cracker at Jonathan Smart Gallery, Christchurch (2010). Parkes’ work is represented in significant public collections in New Zealand as well as private collections in New Zealand, Australia, the U.K and U.S.A. She was awarded the Tylee Cottage Fellowship, Whanganui (2009) and William Hodges Fellowship, Southland (2007). Parkes has a major solo exhibition coming up in August 2012 at The Sarjeant Gallery, Whanganui.
